Prediction markets are confident GTA 6 will not be delayed again. As of 22 October 2026, Polymarket's market on whether the launch is postponed again trades at about 3%, down from 42% in January. Kalshi's new market on a release by 19 November 2026 sits at 91%, and Polymarket's "released by 30 November" market at 97%.
That is a big change. Rockstar has already pushed Grand Theft Auto VI back twice, and for most of the past year traders gave a third delay roughly a one-in-three chance. Here is what the markets say now, why they moved, and what could still go wrong in the last four weeks.

The market opened the day after the second delay, in November 2025, at about 28%. After two slips, traders were in no mood to trust the new date, and the price climbed through the winter to a peak of 42% in late January 2026. It drifted in the 20s and 30s through the spring, with spikes on every rumour.
The turning point was 25 June 2026, when preorders opened with a fixed date and a price. Around it the chance of a delay roughly halved, from about 20% in mid-June to under 10% by early July, and it has kept falling as each milestone passed. At 3% now, the market is saying a delay would take a genuine shock, not the usual development slippage.

Why the odds fall as launch gets closer
A delay market behaves like a countdown. Each week that passes without bad news removes a week in which a delay could have been announced, so even with no new information the price should drift down. Traders call this time decay, and it is visible in the chart: apart from rumour spikes, the line slopes steadily down through the summer.
A simple way to read it: if traders thought there was, say, a 1% chance per week of a delay announcement, a market with 26 weeks to run would price roughly 23%; with four weeks left, about 4%. Real markets are lumpier than that, because risk clusters around milestones (preorders, earnings calls, certification), but the principle explains why a 3% price four weeks out is not the same as "certain".
Why the market thinks the date will hold
Prediction markets do not have inside information from Rockstar (and anyone who did would be breaking the rules: see insider trading on prediction markets). The price reflects public signals, and those have lined up:
- Preorders are live with a date attached. Retailers and console stores are taking money for 19 November. Delaying after preorders open is possible but costly and embarrassing.
- Take-Two has tied its finances to the date. The publisher's guidance to investors assumes a November launch. Missing it would mean a guidance cut, a share-price hit and awkward questions from analysts.
- The launch machine is running. A pre-load date, an official soundtrack album, radio playlists and retail editions are all scheduled. Markets on the album's featured artists and on which songs play on the in-game radio already trade on Polymarket.
- Time is short. Big games are usually finished ("gone gold") and certified by Sony and Microsoft several weeks before launch. Most delays are announced months ahead, as both previous ones were.
The two earlier delays were announced months ahead: the first about five months before the original autumn 2025 window, the second more than six months before the May 2026 date. Nothing like that has happened this time, which is why traders have stopped paying for the risk.
What could still go wrong
A 3% chance is small, not zero. The scenarios traders price in that 3%:
- A late certification or technical problem pushing launch by days or weeks. Polymarket's delay market resolves "Yes" if the game is not available in the US by 11:59 p.m. Eastern on 19 November, so even a short slip would count.
- A staggered launch. The market's rules count a release only if the game is publicly available for purchase or download in the US; early access or a regional launch would not count on its own.
- Something outside Rockstar's control: a cyberattack, a leak large enough to change plans, or a platform outage on launch day.
The bigger risk for traders may be the opposite one: paying 97¢ to win 3¢ ties up money for a month for a small return, and fees on a market order can eat most of it (fees compared).

- Sales records. Kalshi gives an 88% chance GTA 6 becomes the highest-grossing video game ever in its first 24 hours. GTA V set records when it launched in 2013, and the hype for its sequel is far bigger (the record market on Kalshi).
- Reviews. Polymarket's Metacritic market prices a score of 90 or more at about 94% and 96 or more at 74%; a near-perfect 98 is at about 20%.
- PC and online. As with GTA V, the game launches on consoles first. Kalshi gives a PC version before 2028 about 77%, and a separate GTA VI Online before 2027 only 15%.
- Price. The standard edition costs $79.99, and Polymarket's market on a PS5 price of $80 or more is at about 3%; a $100+ standard price is at 1.6%.
- Music. Polymarket lists markets on GTA VI: The Album's featured artists and on songs at launch, where favourites include Don Toliver and Kodak Black.
GTA 6 vs GTA V: why the stakes are so high
Grand Theft Auto V came out in September 2013 and became one of the best-selling games ever, with more than 200 million copies sold. It made about $800 million on its first day and passed $1 billion in three days, records listed by Guinness World Records at the time. GTA 6 is the first new entry in more than a decade, set in the fictional state of Leonida, a version of Florida built around Vice City, with two protagonists, Lucia and Jason, shown in the trailers.
The first trailer, in December 2023, set a YouTube record for the most views of a non-music video in 24 hours. A Polymarket market at the time asked whether it would pass 600 million views on day one; it resolved "No", a reminder that even hype has limits that markets can price.
That scale is why the 24-hour revenue record is priced at 88% and why Take-Two's whole financial year hangs on the date: a delay would move one of the largest entertainment launches in history.
What a 97¢ bet on the release actually earns
Buying "the game comes out on time" at 97¢ looks like easy money, so it is worth doing the arithmetic:
| Polymarket "No" on a delay | Kalshi "Yes" on 19 November | |
|---|---|---|
| Price | about 97¢ | about 91–92¢ |
| Profit if the game launches on time | about 3¢ per contract | about 8–9¢ per contract |
| Loss if it slips | the whole 97¢ | the whole 91–92¢ |
| Taker fee at that price | about 0.15¢ (0.05 × 0.97 × 0.03) | about 0.5¢ (0.07 × 0.92 × 0.08), rounded up per order |
On Polymarket, 3¢ on 97¢ over four weeks is about a 3% return, which sounds like a lot annualised, but only if the market is wrong about the 3% risk. If the true risk is 3%, the expected profit is zero before fees. The bet only makes sense if you think a delay is less likely than the price says. The gap between Kalshi's 91% and Polymarket's 97% is mostly about the different deadlines and Kalshi's thin, two-day-old market, not free money (prediction market arbitrage · expected value).
How to trade GTA 6 markets
- Read the rules first. "Released" means publicly available for purchase or download in the US on Polymarket, and on a major platform (PS5, Xbox Series X|S or PC) on Kalshi. Small wording differences decide edge cases (how markets resolve).
- Check liquidity. Polymarket's delay market has traded about $876,000; Kalshi's on-time market opened on 20 October and is still thin. A thin market's price can sit a few points from fair value (slippage and spreads).
- Use limit orders. On markets priced near 3¢ or 97¢, the spread and fees matter more than the odds (limit vs market orders).
- Compare the platforms. Kalshi's 91% and Polymarket's 97% cover different deadlines (19 versus 30 November), so they are not the same bet. When the same question trades at different prices, the spread scanner shows it.
Culture and entertainment markets like these are available to US users on Kalshi; the global Polymarket site is closed to US residents (Kalshi vs Polymarket).
