Polymarket valuation: how much Polymarket is worth, who owns it, and is it publicly traded?
Polymarket went from about $1 billion to a reported $21 billion in a little over a year. Every funding round, ICE’s stake, the 1789 Capital deal, IPO and token talk, and how anyone can get exposure to Polymarket today.
Polymarket is a private company, so it has no share price. Its value is set by funding rounds. The last valuation confirmed by an investor's own announcement came with ICE's investment in October 2025, about $9 billion. Since then the press has reported rounds at about $15 billion (spring 2026) and $21 billion (August 2026).
As of 20 October 2026. Figures from company or investor announcements are marked as confirmed; the rest are press reports.
Polymarket valuation history

| May 2024 | Series A and B, $70 million in total, led by Polychain and Founders Fund | Not disclosed | Confirmed raise |
| Mid-2025 | Round led by Founders Fund | About $1 billion | Reported |
| October 2025 | ICE agrees to invest up to $2 billion, $1 billion at first | About $9 billion after the money ($8 billion before) | Confirmed by ICE |

| 31 August 2026 | About $1 billion raised, led by 1789 Capital | $21 billion after the money | Reported by Bloomberg |
That is roughly a twentyfold rise in about fifteen months, driven by trading volume, the US relaunch and the 2026 fee rollout.
Who owns Polymarket?
- Shayne Coplan, the founder and chief executive, who started the company (legally Blockratize Inc.) in 2020.
- Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), the owner of the New York Stock Exchange. With about $1.6 billion committed across two tranches, ICE is reported to be the largest shareholder, with roughly 22% (a press figure, not confirmed in a filing). ICE also distributes Polymarket's data to financial firms.
- 1789 Capital, the venture firm where Donald Trump Jr. is a partner. It invested in 2025, when Trump Jr. also joined Polymarket's advisory board, and reportedly led the August 2026 round with about $300 million on top of an existing stake of about $200 million.
- Founders Fund, Polychain and other venture investors from earlier rounds.
More on the people and the corporate history: who owns Polymarket.
Is Polymarket publicly traded?
No. Polymarket has not filed for an initial public offering (IPO) and has no ticker. Pages on stock sites that show a "Polymarket" ticker or a projected IPO date are placeholders, not listings.
On 13 October 2026 Bloomberg reported that Polymarket was weighing two routes: a traditional IPO, or launching a native token. It had not chosen either or set a timetable. The token side of that story is covered in Polymarket airdrop and token.
How to get exposure to Polymarket
| Route | Who can use it | What you actually own |
|---|---|---|
| Buy ICE stock (NYSE: ICE) | Anyone with a brokerage account | A large exchange group; Polymarket is a small slice of its value |
| Pre-IPO platforms | Usually accredited investors | Private shares or funds holding them, hard to sell, at the platform's price |
| Wait for an IPO or token | Anyone, if it happens | Nothing yet: neither has been announced |
Be wary of anyone selling "Polymarket shares" or "pre-launch tokens" outside regulated platforms. Neither exists for the public.
What justifies $21 billion?
Investors are paying for growth rather than current profit:
- Fee revenue. Polymarket earned almost nothing from trading until 2026. Taker fees on most categories since 30 March 2026 turned volume into revenue; public trackers put it in the low hundreds of millions of dollars a year (how Polymarket makes money).
- The US market. Polymarket bought QCEX, a CFTC-licensed exchange, in 2025 and relaunched in the US as Polymarket US (how to use Polymarket in the US).
- Data. Odds licensed to ICE, news sites and finance portals (prediction market odds on TV and in the news).
The risks are just as real: state lawsuits over sports contracts, competition from Kalshi, Robinhood and sportsbooks, and regulatory change.
